We currently have an opening for an Assistant Utility Operator.

Summary of Job Duties:
- Monitors and operates plant equipment to maintain safe, efficient and continuous plant operations.
- Makes rounds to check conditions of plant equipment and records operational data on log sheets.
- Operates Ash Handling System safely and efficiently.
- Tests and treats boiler, cooling and other plant water systems.
- Shovels loose materials such as sand, gravel, metals, plastics or chemicals.
- Operates overhead crane to maintain proper refuse flow to operating boilers and to control pit management. Responsibilities include monitoring, lubricating, inspecting, and cleaning overhead refuse crane.
-Operates overhead in a manner to prevent excessive grapple swings, cable jerking and to reduce wear on electrical and mechanical parts.
-Thoroughly mixes refuse before feeding to boilers to ensure proper combustion and ensure few arches occur.
-Closes bays in a timely manner and stacks refuse to properly control pit management.
-Completes crane inspections and performs required lubrications.
- Maintains clean and orderly work area.
- Works overtime and rotating shifts.
- Lifts moderate to heavy material.
-Has depth perception and fine motor skills.

REQUIREMENTS

Education/Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Mechanical abilities sufficient to perform equipment maintenance and minor repairs such as replacement of shear and bucket pins, valve repacking, strainer cleaning, cable cuts and changes, equipment inspections and general preventative maintenance.
