I. Job Summary
Manages assets and activities of the transportation department.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
· Coordinates daily activities between subcontractor haulers, transfer stations and landfills.
· Ensures smooth operation of multiple transfer stations with regard to coordinating subcontractor assets and monitors disposal destinations.
· Monitor Market Area transfer disposal network to budget goals and adjust as needed to optimize profitability.
· Monitors transportation work processes, procedures and expenses, and establishes programs which drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals.
· Provides direction and expertise on the implementation of cost-effective transportation systems required by the company.
· Reviews and evaluates work to ensure quality, timeliness and ensures quality control in adherence to policies and procedures.
· Identifies and analyzes transportation costs, equipment availability, and service levels, making recommendations as required to improve the effectiveness of transportation programs.

· Regularly proposes means of improvement.
· Communicates and interfaces effectively with Transfer, landfill personel and subcontractor vendors.
· Interfaces periodically with county and municipal transfer personnel with whom WM has contractual obligations.

A. Education and Experience
Required: Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent experience, and seven to ten years previous experience.
B. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations or Other Requirements
Valid driver’s license required.
